Vernie & Morisha

Vernie is a nurse at Kings College London, formerly Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. Here she is heard in conversation with her daughter, Morisha. "Nursing is very personal for me," says Vernie. She likes to stay late  to do the "little things" such as getting to know her patients and giving them bed-baths - this is impossible during the day where nurses are so pressured by tasks, documentation and activitiy. Vernie and her daughter are both night people - part circumstance, part choice. They describe cooking during the pandemic at midnight so as not to come into contact with Vernie's elderly mother who was particularly vulnerable to Covid-19.
