This programme has three phases.
1. The creation of a 24-hour-long spatial sound and light installation in physical and digital space
From a distance, you’ll see a light dial marking the passage of time throughout the day. As you sit down in a comfortable sitting alcove, you'll hear oral stories linked to your time of listening. So, if you look at your watch it will match regular verbal time stamps from the narrators. Time inside and outside the installation is perfectly in sync.
So, there is clock time, and life hangs upon these minutes. But there is also subjective time, the kind nurses and midwives wear on the inside of their fob watch, close to the heart. This other time is measured in our relationship to tempo, timing and temporarility. It speeds up, it slows down, it occasionally vanishes, like the subtle original music and lighting animations in this special time piece.
The proof of concept website (70 mins, not 24 hours!) won The International Women's Podcast Awards in 2024:
2. A tour with special events and workshops
3. A CPD training catalysing a movement for creative health to become an employment right.
